Could we maybe invest in another sign to let the community know when the board meetings are. It may help to have a bigger turnout to the meetings.

Are we really talking about a board meeting in July? If so it would give us enough time to save for another sign. Kathy do you think another sign will survive
the demons?

Donna,
I actually did not want to start another "topic " so I found this one, I know it is from July but it works! I doubt if it will survive the "demons" but just maybe if we only put it out on the morning of the meeting and take it down afterwards, as everyone is coming in and going out they will be reminded of the meeting. Whatever, the board wants involvement, they need to let the community be aware of these meetings. I know meetings are suppose to be some Tuesday of the month but on occasions, thats not the happening. This sign can't cost as much as our beautiful rocks on the corner!

The BOD meetings usually take place on the third Tuesday of the month @ 6:30pm. The next BOD meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010, @ 6:30PM.

Hey, Steph,
Thanks for offering those "big Sign Boards", I bet THEY are cheaper then those rocks!! Definitely gets your attention....

Thank you Debbie for posting about the meeting, we probably still need that sign since there are so few people that see this site or are even aware of it. I can assure you by February 16th most people will forget too... just a thought...

The BOD meeting was last night. As usual the only interested parties to show up were members of a committee, and two spouses of board members, 6 people. Wow, where was everyone else? Annual meeting will come up soon and we NEVER have a quorum because of lack of interest or community spirit. There will be no lack of complainers though.

Donna-
I think half the problem is that there are only a few of us who ever go on this site and we are already in the loop. Kathy is right- If the board really wants people to get involved in Danforth Lakes business, like we all used to, they need to put a sign up, pass out flier of upcoming meetings, send emails or make a Facebook page for the neighborhood. All the people that have moved in around me had no idea this page was even here. When is the annual meeting? Do you know if any of the Board Members are planning to step down so we can get some new blood in there? I'm sure they are tired of their positions- they have been there a long time.

ooops, I forgot about the meeting.

Stephanie is right, we need to work at getting the community involved. Flyers are a great idea, I know you think it is the neighbors who are responsible to attend the meeting but since so much time has passed since there has been involvement then the board needs to make an effort to get the ball rolling again. I, myself have not attended a meeting in years due to the lack of interest and the way the board responded to anything committe members had to offer for advice. If they want involvement then they must keep an open mind from this community. Maybe new blood might be the answer.

We used to have a newsletter periodically but that is costly and I'm not sure it produced greater attendance at the BOD meetings. You won't get "new blood" on the BOD without a qorum. Don't give up Kathy as some of us appreciate your input and everyone has the right to be heard. I believe the board is going to require people to call the management company to be placed on the agenda rather than having an "open floor", so the board will be better prepared to answer questions. Don't hold me to exactly how that is going to happen but changes are in the works and they will appropriately get the word out.

I learned at this past BOD meeting that being placed on the agenda refers to people that have been fined and wish to speak. Since I seem to be prone to misunderstanding you are hereby notified, if you want accurate information attend the meeting and bring a tape recorder so you can play it back later so you can be more sure of what you thought you heard! FYI there were 6 people other than the board who attended this meeting.
